Hi there, nice to meet you!
I’m Nagi, and RecipeTin Eats is my corner of the internet!
I’m the voice, cook and eater behind RecipeTin Eats. I create recipes, take photos of them, write them up and make recipe tutorial videos. Oh, and I have a food bank – RecipeTin Meals – and I wrote a cookbook too!

I live in beautiful Sydney, Australia, and have an unhealthy obsession with all things food and my dog Dozer, an abnormally large and very cheeky golden retriever.
When I say he’s “abnormally large”, I mean it! Proof:

(OK, possibly I am a little on the short side too….😂)
My recipes
My website reflects my philosophy on food and cooking – fast, creative, clever and fresh.
That’s fast meals for busy weeknights.
Creative new ideas and fresh takes on favourites to shortcut preparation, cut down on cost and create food with style.
Clever cooking so that you don’t sacrifice taste just because you’re short on time and on a budget. I’ll show you how to get gourmet flavours out of budget ingredients and how you can get organised so it’s a breeze to serve up nourishing meals to your family that will knock their socks off.
And fresh meals that are made from scratch. I don’t use store bought packet mixes or canned soup.

My recipes are cost conscious, made using everyday ingredients and (mostly) pretty healthy. I don’t use a tub of cream or blocks of cream cheese in every sauce, and I only deep fry when I really think it’s worth it.
But, sometimes I feel the need to unleash the demon within. 🙂

OK, maybe a little more than sometimes……

A bit about me …
Born in Japan, raised in Sydney, Australia, I’ve travelled the world from Europe to the Middle East, across Asia and America.
In a previous life, I worked in corporate finance. Though I thoroughly enjoyed my “first” career, I wanted to pursue a future where my passion really lies – food. 🙂
Today, I’m extremely fortunate to be able to say that I make a living doing what I truly love – creating and sharing my favourite recipes with people from all over the world.
Growing up, budget was tight and even though my mother worked full time, we dined like royalty because she was so creative in the kitchen. And this is why I know it’s possible to make great, fresh food even if you’re short on time and on a budget.

The recipes on my blog draws on influences from my travels, my ever evolving fascination with how just a few simple ingredients can transform into something that tastes so amazing, and learning genius tricks from the masters of the world.
I want to show you how to make vibrant recipes made with everyday ingredients, spanning cuisines from around the world as well as classic comforts. Delicious recipes with the “wow” factor that are simple to make, cost effective and can often be prepared ahead.
I hope you find something on here to your taste! – Nagi x

What you will find on RecipeTin Eats
Seriously tasty simple recipes made using everyday ingredients. I don’t shop at gourmet stores.
Exciting New Ideas for Fast Midweek Meals.
Takeout favourites that truly taste like what you get at restaurants.
Easy recipes from around the world.
Can’t-Live-Without Classics. 🙂
Salads with oomph! Because if I’m having a salad as a meal, it’s got to be something special!
Cooking for a crowd. I like to entertain. So many of my recipes are convenient for cooking for a crowd, whether it be easy to make in large volumes, or make ahead.
Tried and tested recipes. I take great care to ensure my recipes work and are written concisely. I also add notes to help with substitutions (where possible) and explanations for things that I think may not be familiar to everyone.

What you won’t find on my blog
I don’t follow trends for the sake of it. I only share recipes I truly love. There will never be a cauliflower crust pizza on my blog.
I do not sacrifice taste just for the sake of reducing calories (or following a trend). My healthy recipes are accidentally healthy.
Food that looks pretty but tastes blah. Never, ever, ever!
Recipes with shortcuts that compromise on flavour. I will cheat at every opportunity. So long as it doesn’t compromise on flavour.

Difference in measures between countries
DID YOU KNOW….? Cups, tablespoons and teaspoon sizes differ between countries. For the vast majority of my recipes, the difference is not enough to affect the recipes – this mostly holds true for savoury recipes.
However, for baking recipes like cakes, slices, delicate desserts and especially cookies, the slight difference between measurements does matter.
So I ensure that my baking recipes are tested and written so that they will work for cooks in different countries. This also applies to any savoury recipes that are affected as well.

Oh – and I have a food bank!
During the height of the pandemic in 2021 when there was increased food insecurity in my community, I started my food bank, RecipeTin Meals, where we make homemade meals which are donated to the vulnerable.
I have 3 full time chefs who work in the kitchen making meals 5 days a week. Many of the recipes we use are from my website!

Finally … Don’t be shy, say “Hi”!
Drop me an email and say hi! Due to the sheer number of messages I receive, I sadly cannot respond to every one. However I do my very best to reply where I can (unless you’re SPAM!). One thing I can assure you is that I will see your message! You can contact me here.

You and Dozer are so well loved across Australia and the world. Who would have thought a little recipe blog would bring such joy (and good food!) to so many!?

I am so sad to hear of your loss Nagi. We all loved Dozer but nobody could have lived him as you did. You gave him a wonderful life and it’s just so sad our pets cannot stay with us longer. Take care now and rest easy if possible knowing you did everthing for Dozer and he loved you for it
Dear Nagi,
Sorry to hear Dozer is gone.
Take care,
Paul
Sorry to read that you’ve lost your beautiful friend Dozer. You will always miss him but the awful grief will fade in time. We lost our lovely GR Watson some years ago. I cried for a week and sometimes still tear up. Two years later, we welcomed another GR puppy into our house and we love him to bits. They are the best friends we could ever have. Hang in there.
I was always a subscriber but don’t seem to be now. It’s best to use this email address.
Naga I am soo sorry to hear of the loss of Dozer, Ive been in your place a few times and it’s honestly the most deeply upsetting pain. I just wanted to check in and say big hugs xx
Dear Nagi and your Dear and loving Dozer,
I live in Naples ,Fl.I found your web site years ago at Christmas time. I have followed your journey and have truly enjoyed it.What a beautiful relationship you and Dozer have .He will be in your heart forever. Prayfully and with Love , Anne
Dear Nagi and Dozer your emails fill me with delight. I simply love Dozer. I have a gorgous furry grandson called Moa who is a Swiss Mountain dog cross Rottweiler. He belongs to my son Simon and his lovely Korean wife Kim and I just adore him. I also love your recipes and when I don’t know what to cook I go straight to your website. I am Coeliac so just change the flour to my g/f flour and soy sauce to Tamara etc so no problem. If you have any good g/f recipes I would be very keen to see them. Thinking of you at this critical time for Dozer and yourself and prayers will be said to comfort you dear Nagi. With my love Yvonne
I love your recipes and I love your kind heart! You are amazing!
Hi Nagi, As someone that is neurodivergent, I find your website fantastic. Recently, I have loved your cooking appliances and tools recommendations. Can you please run through what you got/use? The IKEA sauce pan tip was amazing!!!!
Hi Nagi, I have a very rare book from the Melbourne meat board from around 1968 and it has the most remarkable meatloaf you will have ever eaten. Would you like to have the recipe. Apart from a few different ingredients to yours it is the amazing sauce with instant coffee, lemon juice, tomato sauce, butter etc that really gives it such a kick. As it is so old there is no IP for it. happy to share and I live in London. Viv
Your recipe for meatloaf sounds intriguing – I’d love the recipe or I can wait to see if Nagi wishes to reproduce it.
Hi Nagi, I just wanted you to know that i am now cooking my 53rd recipe from your books and web page. My husband and I only want to eat your food even though i have a freezer full of game meat. We have never felt so healthy since we have been eating your food. My dentist commented on the non existant plaque on my teeth and said it is your food as he is Syrian and eats basically chicken and rice. I can’t thank you enough for your wonderful recipes and now all my friends have your books that i recommended to them as well as multiple christmas presents that i sent as your books. You truly are a gift. Kind Regards Vivienne
I have tried to subscribe several times but I don’t receive any emails. I really enjoy your recipes and purchased one of your books. Sure would like to be on your mailing list. Fingers crossed.
Hi Nagi, I made your termite today, the cream was a yellow colour rather than white, I think the eggs were very orange colour, what do you think, tasted nice.
Hi Nagi,
I am totally enjoying your cookbooks and thank you.
I am a travel agent and am bringing a small group to Australia in late May, 2026. Any possibility of bringing the group to see you? We would only have 8-10 people.
Dearest Nagi,
Words cannot fully express my deep sympathy to you at dear Dozer’s passing. We can never know all the joy that he brought to people the world over. He lit up everyone’s life just by being himself, and this is how our fond memory of him will live on. Take good care of yourself, Nagi, and be consoled that you had been the very best mom to him.
Hi Nagi
Having recently retired, I have a lot of spare time and would like to work towards helping those less fortunate than myself.
Do you need volunteers for recipetinmeals?
Regards
Cheryl Smiot
I have no words to thank a hero who has changed my cooking abilities to a wow factor, you, Nagi. You are an inspiration for every cook and non cook. I’ve benefitted by your recipes in leaps and bounds and lay a fairly
gastronomic table 😄 thanks to you. Your recipes are to the point and beautifully explained. The videos want me to run to the kitchen and make that recipe. Mouthwatering. And, added to all this is your commitment to the community through the food bank. Awesome and noble.
Needless to day, the star of the show is Monsieur Dozer. He’s absolutely adorable. May he live a healthy, fit life.
I send you thanks from Pakistan 🇵🇰 and wish you the best in life. May you have everything in life and more.
Your generosity in sharing the wonderful recipes speaks volumes
Cheers and have a great life!
I agree with everything you have said. Nagi is my cooking goddess… I don’t do anything without consulting her first. And of course I love Dozer too!
