Going live effective immediately – and open right through to Christmas Eve, JB and I are on duty to answer your Christmas cooking questions. ✨Welcome to our Christmas Cooking Hotline!!✨

Christmas hotline featured image - Nagi JB

JB and I are on call!

I’m so excited to be doing this! I’ve had the idea of a Christmas cooking hotline bubbling away in my mind for years, but I always hesitated because I worried it would be too much to handle on my own.

But now that JB is part of the face of RecipeTin and it’s not just me, there’s two of us here to answer your questions. So for the first time ever, we’re opening up a hotline for Christmas cooking questions, bringing together home-cook practicality and actual proper chef experience (JB!), which means more ideas and better problem-solving for you!

Christmas with Nagi from RecipeTin Eats

So drop your question in the comments section below and we will answer as many as we can (we need to sleep, and we have some other work things to finish!). Ask anything you want, like:

  • Can I make this ahead, freeze it, or reheat it?

  • What can I substitute if I can’t find an ingredient?

  • How do I scale recipes up or down?

  • Help, something’s going wrong – how do I fix it?

  • Menu planning, timing, or oven logistics chaos 😅

Even though our last day of work is this Friday, JB has generously agreed to continue helping me with questions right through to Christmas Eve. Thank you JB, you’re the best.

And now…. the Christmas Cooking Hotline is now officially open. So drop your questions below and we’ll jump in to help wherever we can, because Christmas cooking is much more fun with backup! 🎄 – Nagi x

PS Few out-takes from today’s little Christmas shooting session. We know how to cook better than taking selfies. Promise. 😅

PPS Who nailed The Wink? 😉

Life of Dozer

My favourite Dozer Christmas outfit.

Dozer Santa on back

Though to be honest, Santa spends most of his time like this:

Which I’m sure is Santa after a few too many Christmas wines. This has absolutely nothing to do with his ride – or the stable hand who saddled up his ride. 😂

Hi, I'm Nagi!

Hi Ingrid, Just sharing my experience. I have made Nagi’s Christmas Trifle recipe on many occasions and highly recommend it, It’s a next level trifle that everyone I have served it to has loved. I made my own custard and the cranberry jelly is divine!

Hi! I just wanted to say how much I love your recipes—everything I’ve tried has turned out beautifully, and I’m always so excited to see what you share next. Thank you both for all the time and effort you put into creating such wonderful content!
I’m hoping to make your pavlova bombs for dessert this week and was wondering if strawberries could be used instead of raspberries, or if there’s another fruit you’d recommend. Thanks so much!

I have been invited to a Xmas dinner where most people are gluten free or Coeliac. Can you please recommend a snack food that I can take

Hi Nagi and JB, I’ve tried a few different knife sharpening tools with mediocre results so I am wondering what is you preferred knife sharpening tool?

Hi Naji/JB. Merry Xmas. I bought a Steggles turkey roll as we only have a few of us this year. Now I’m worried? Why? Will it be dry etc & can u suggest a good basting option or rub – & I will serve warm with a recommended sauce & baked potatoes (special request) – we all bring usually cold seafood, cherry pistachio duck etc but have I goofed? I don’t want to muck this up! Cheers Annie 🎄

Seasons Greetings! How far ahead can I make your Mango Cheesecake? Can it be frozen and then defrosted and topped on the day it’s needed?

Hi Nagi, JB & dozer, I’ve been given a couple of lobster tails, what is something easy I can do with them? I was thinking something with garlic butter.
Thanks for your great recipes 🎄🎄

Just in case Nagi doesn’t get back to you, choice just published the verdict and Coles was the winner. 🙂 https://www.choice.com.au/food-and-drink/meat-fish-and-eggs/meat/buying-guides/christmas-hams

I make your pavlova recipe every Christmas and it’s always delicious, but there is always a hollow space that collapses once fruit and cream are added for serving. Is that normal for home-made pavlova’s or is there anything I need to do to make it more “solid”? Thanks so much!

My husband wants lasagna for Christmas. That’s fine, but what do I serve with it? (I have food intolerances and can’t eat lettuce, so no green salad)
    Thank you

Great idea Nagi and JB. I’m making several of your Basque cheesecakes for a wedding just after Christmas. I’ll make these the day before the event. I’m after other ideas for make-ahead event desserts that could be made, say 4 or 5 days ahead. Or better, that could be frozen and transported. Any thoughts?

Could you please recommend what brand of ham you would buy to glaze? I bought a Coles ham last year but I think the 🐖 might have been on a diet because it lacked that delicious layer of fat that gives it flavour 😫 thanks team!

Btw, Nagi nailed the wink 😜 Merry Christmas to you all!! 😊🍷

PS. Thank you so much for an amazing year of fantastic recipes. Looking forward to 2026 🥰

Love, love love all your recipes, and am a huge Dozer fan! Thank you for all you do….
My dilemma is to come up with a total make ahead Christmas breakfast casserole that doesn’t take an hour in the oven in the morning. Can there be something taking 15/20 minutes in the oven? When my guests get up they aren’t keen on an hour+ wait. I usually wind up with scrambled eggs, toast, cereal ect. Appreciate any ideas you can send my way.😊 Wishing all you and yours a very Merry Christmas from 🇨🇦

I’m cooking for 20-30 people for our street ministry for homeless . I want to make something like comfort food that’s filling that I can cook at my kitchen . Like chicken dumplings that I can make on the crockpot.
